Summer Lovin’ with 4Flavour and Birlin

If you’ve walked through the various accessory aisles at a YDE store, then you have definitely come across both 4Flavour and Birlin. Both of these brands are aimed at the youthful and fashion-conscious and have an amazing product range.

I was recently sent some frikken’ fabulous goodies from the team behind both 4Flavour and Birlin – and I simply cannot wait to style them in OOTD posts for you guys!

But since I’m always delayed with OOTD posts, I thought that I’d share pics + info on the très cool items that I received – basically a sneak peak. So here goes..

4Flavour Scarf (R130):
To be honest, I cried/died/screamed a little when I saw this scarf! Firstly, I love scarves. I will always buy scarves no matter how many I already own – it is simply an addiction! Also, this scarf drapes and sets perfectly, is so soft and light and is just so pretty overall. Plus it’s a maxi scarf, so you can make all the folds and tucks that you need to make! I think it was meant to be a neck scarf or sarong (hence the maxiness), but I’ll definitely be using it as a head scarf or even as a turban.
It’s pink, blue and paisley and I can’t wait to wear it this Summer!

4Flavour Bracelets & Earrings
Jewellery. Yup, another love of mine too. I just love everything fashion/clothes related and if you’re reading this, you probably do too!
The earrings (R79) are definitely of the quality and style that you would find at perhaps Forever New or Klines but at a fraction of the cost. Even though, this particular pair is quite classy and elegant, I really do think it’s versatile. It will work well at a high tea or luncheon but would even work on a day out shopping or to the beach, provided that that it is paired with the perfect ensemble.

The silver/diamanté bracelet (R150) is a staple that every girl/woman should own. It’s perfect for everyday use, events and special occasions.
It’s just one of those items that takes your wrist-game to the next level. And the fact that this one is elasticated, means that you can pop it on and off in an instant and if you’re on the thinner side of life, no worries because it isn’t as big as most bracelets are – it won’t slip off but it won’t be tight either.IMG_9836

The festival/tribal bracelet (R180) has so many different elements to it’s design but they all work harmoniously to create one amazing piece. There’s suede, plastic, thread and even tassels incorporated into the design so it definitely has the ability to catch ones’ eye. The best thing about this bracelet is that it can be paired with skirts, jeans, dresses, beachwear and basically anything and everything else. It’s a definite must-have this Summer.

These bracelets couldn’t be more different in both style and design, but they both define my fashion style.
Undoubtedly my fashion choices are mostly girly and sophisticated, but from time to time I do enjoy changing it up. And whenever I do, I always gravitate towards the bolder and funkier pieces and I allow myself to get a bit crazy. So both of these bracelets are right up my alley.

4Flavour Laser Cut-Out Purse (R250)
Firstly, could you die? No really, could you? This has got to be the cutest, most adorable purse I have ever come across. The cut-outs with the mint pop of colour really transforms this purse . It’s obvi meant to be kept in your bag but how can one ever hide such beauty? This one is my fav of them all – after the pretty paisley-printed scarf of course!

Birlin Eyewear
Besides being affordable and so chic, I love that Birlin Eyewear has frames to suit both big and small faces. I always have a hard time when it comes to me shopping for shades, because none ever fit me right but Birlin is changing that for me. They sent me 2 pairs of sunglasses, one funky and the other cute, and both look great on my tiny face. As if the affordability of these shades weren’t spectacular enough, each pair comes with its very own pouch – so bye, bye scratched lenses!

So, if you are looking for on-trend and affordable jewellery, belts, scarves and wallets be sure to check out the 4Flavour aisle at your nearest YDE store and those of you who have fallen inlove with these Birlin sunnies, you can find them at YDE too. I’ll be featuring all of the above items in my upcoming OOTD posts, so do keep a lookout for those posts!

These super sweet sisters recently sent me a package filled with goodies from their store which was so exciting and thrilling to open. I received a messenger bag, 2 cocktail rings, a set of silver bangles, a bracelet and 2 chains – yup, too cool, I know!

june 018

When I ripped open the package and unwrapped all of the goodies inside, I already knew which were my favourites. The first thing that I spotted was the brown messenger bag. I love messenger bags, I simply cannot go shopping without one. They are so easy to carry around, it fits all of your essentials in it therefore barring you from storing any junk in there and they are just so darn cute. It was hard for me not to love this particular one as it’s the perfect size and such a versatile colour – a total YAY from my side!

Next, I attacked the accessories that were hidden inside the bag. Now, before I begin you should know something – accessories that are in shades of gold, bronze and rose-gold are my weakness, so when I see ’em, I’ve got to have ’em. I think it’s because colours in the gold family look so much better on Indian and olive-toned skin than silver does, but don’t get me wrong I still wear silver jewellery when the occasion and outfit calls for it, I’m not anti-silver now even though it may sound that way!

So from the accessories, this cocktail ring (R45) is definitely my favourite. It is absolutely gorgeous, and the flower within the resin is so pretty. I’m not sure if it’s real or just a craft one, but I love it nonetheless. The ring gives off this vintage vibe which makes it appropriate for both a day out shopping or a girls’ night out.

My next favourite is this bronzish detailed heart pendant necklace. Pendant necklaces, and statement necklaces, are a definite must have for your accessories collection. They work so well with sweaters, maxi skirts, shirts and cardigans -basically, with every type of outfit. I have something similar to this one from Woolworths, but of course I paid like over R100 and this one is just R45, a total steal at this price!

Now, on to the silver jewellery we go (see, I told you I wasn’t anti-silver!). When I first saw this huge blue cocktail ring (R45), I honestly thought it wouldn’t look good on my rather small hands – but I learnt that you cant judge a book..uh,a ring by it’s size? Yeah, that kind of makes sense. What’s special about this ring is that the shade of the ring is determined by the lighting in the room, so sometimes it’s dark blue and sometimes light but always so outstanding.

The 4 items that I mentioned above are my ultimate favourites from the package I received, I like the others too but it’s just that I’m totally in love with these 4! I thought I’d share a few more images with you guys, just so you can grasp how beautiful all the items really are.

Local is Lekker: Alexandra K Jewels

When I started the ‘Local is Lekker’ series on my blog, I never knew that there were so many local brands out there. Recently, I came across Alexandra K Jewels, an amazing brand that doesn’t exist solely for the purpose of making a profit, but is also geared towards pro-empowerment and the uplifting of women.20140522-092030.jpgKate Alexandra Fitz-Gibbon officially launched her local brand, Alexandra K jewels, at the beginning of this year. She creates beautiful, handmade pieces that are simply stunning and very easy to wear. Her current range includes earrings, headpieces and necklaces that incorporate a lot of feathers, crystals, pearls and pretty stones – very dreamy and boho chic, I love it!

From all of her designs, the headpieces are definitely my favorite! They are extremely handy when you are attending a special occasion or if just want to add little something extra to your look. An added plus is that they work exceptionally well over your hijab, which is possibly the greatest thing ever.

The Silver River Headpiece

Kate was kind enough to gift me two of her ultimately gorgeous headpieces, the Silver River headpiece and the Hot Natured headpiece, which I absolutely cannot wait to feature in my upcoming look posts! Thanks Kate! The photographs I snapped up did not do the headpieces justice, therefore I decided that I will show you guys the headpieces when I’m actually wearing them. But what I want you guys to see is the manner in which the headpieces were gifted to me – so fab!

I know! It's too adorable for words :D

I know! It’s too adorable for words 😀

Whenever I chat to local designers/entrepreneurs I always ask them if they’ve had any formal training or if they hold any qualifications in the industry in which they work – be it fashion, jewellery, or baking- and almost always, the answer is ‘No’. Kate is no different. She explained to me that she taught herself how to make all of the Alexandra K Jewels pieces that you see above. She wanted to prove to herself that she can create beautiful items without the help of others or teaching resources – a means of building her self-confidence and self-esteem. After succeeding at this, Kate decided that she wanted to instill the same confidence in others, so the next step was making her brand pro-empowerment.
Kate is currently training her first lady to make the jewels, she is also training her in what it means to have confidence, to know her identity and her talents. She is teaching her values and principles, and how to embrace her destiny, which is all in aid of helping her to be successful in the workplace and to lead a successful life.
By building her brand, Kate is building the confidence of another and hopefully many more women in the future, as the brand grows.may 159

If you are interested in supporting a great brand with an amazing purpose, you can email your order to or you can send a message to the Alexandra K Jewel’s Facebook page and Kate will happily send through a product catalogue!
From the end of May, you can make your purchase from, all orders can be shipped to anywhere in SA and soon an international delivery option will also be available. Items are priced from R220 to R650 and there is limited availability on each product to ensure that you can keep your individuality alive – take that all you annoying copycats out there!
And oh yes, if you want to have a quick lookie at more of the pieces available from Alexandra K Jewels, you can find them on Facebook and Instagram.

Happy Shopping!
