Gold/Tulle OOTD

Hey guys!

So, I’m back with another collab featuring My Online Souk.

The lovely ladies over at MOS (find their website here) sent me another Diamanté-branded scarf to style – this time, it was black jersey scarf with gold detailing – which is obvi perfect for a wedding or an occasion that requires a lil’ bit of fancy.

Even though I’ve never styled/wore a jersey scarf as a turban before, I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to take on the challenge and make it work!

Dove’s Oxygen Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Before I started wearing a scarf full-time, I had hair that was thick, bouncy and full of volume, however, due to the constant downward pressure that my scarf applies to my scalp, I’m now left with hair that lacks volume and that is much thinner than before.
So, naturally, when Dove sent me their Oxygen  Moisture Range to test out and review, I was really excited to see if it will make any difference to my hair whatsoever!

My Skin Journey with Dermaceutic and Dr Ridhwana Vawda

If you’ve been following my blog since its inception in 2013, then you are definitely aware of the battle that I’ve been fighting in regard to my skin.
My skin is very much prone to breakouts and is so reactive that most products do not agree to it. During Ramadaan (June/July), my skin took a turn for the worse and I broke out on my forehead, cheeks, jawline and even on my chin – it was just total insanity.

I finally decided that it was time for a change and as fate may have it, I made that decision just a few days before I attended Dr Ridhwana Vawda + Dermaceutic’s Promo Day.

Grayscale {OOTD}

Hello there, my beautiful & fantastic readers!

I know I’ve been totally MIA for a while, but I’ve just been ridiculously busy and well, haven’t found the time to snap pics/write up new posts for the blog – I sincerely apologize!
Well, I’m now back into the blogging scene albeit not back into the daily blogging scene as I most probably will be posting just 3 or 4 times a week, God willing!

So, to start of the new blogging month of August (I know we’re half way through August, but whatevs), I thought I’d share this OOTD which features a gorgeous gray instant sheyla from Damasq ( currently sold out, but contact Damasq for more details)!

My Hair Care Routine For Colour-Treated Hair

In November last year, I decided to colour my hair at home and then I only did I realise the toll that dye can take on your hair. After I washed and dried my hair, after colouring it, the ends of my hair were even drier and more brittle than before and the overall texture of my hair had changed too. Considering these changes, I decided to add a few more steps into my hair care routine to ensure that my hair eventually gets back to its healthy, strong and almost-shiny self. Continue reading

Essence Haul {Eyeshadows, Glitter Eyeliner, Mascara & Glitter Lashes}

Essence is one of those brands that offer quality products at an affordable price. Whilst I do prefer purchasing the bulk of my products from higher-end brands, I always look to Essence when I’m in need of a specific eyeshadow or lip pencil to create a look for a special event – because I most likely wouldn’t use these products on a daily basis and I don’t need to feel bad because it was cheap anyway!

Catrice Ultimate Colour and Ultimate Lip Glow Review

I have never pegged myself as a lipstick kinda girl as I’ve only ever worn balms or lip chubbies – and also never owned a tube of lippie until recently.

A few weeks ago, I found myself browsing through Kalahari’s website and somehow convinced myself to purchase not one, but two lipsticks. The first being Catrice’s Ultimate Lip Colour in Matte About Pink (250) and the other Catrice’s Ultimate Lip Glow.

Let’s get selfie confident with POND’S

Clear, fresh and radiant – 3 words that accurately describe the skin goals of most probably, every woman out there. And the great news is, that POND’S has formulated a product to help you achieve just that!

The new POND’S complete solution spot clear even tone facial foam has been specifically developed for teens with acne/spot-prone skin. As cleansers play a vital role in keeping your skin fresh and renewed, POND’S thought it’d be a great idea to formulate a cleanser that aids in keeping skin healthy and clear by washing away dirt, oil and spot causing bacteria. And they sent me a few tubes to try out for myself!

IMG_1472

This multi-action facial foam and scrub is aimed at fighting 10 oil and spot related problems from deep within the epidermal layer. It was designed to help control oil, clear pimples, reduce blemishes and redness, calm the skin, remove blackheads and whiteheads, tighten pores and smooth and brighten skin.

It contains 4 powerful ingredients – salicylic acid, herbal clay, scrub beads and brightening essence – which will encourage skin to be at it’s freshest and clearest at all times.

I’ve only started using the POND’S complete solution spot clear even tone facial foam on my nose to remove blackheads and my skin has taken well to it. My skin is quite sensitive therefore I usually breakout if a product doesn’t agree with my skin. However, since I’ve been using this product, which has only been a for few days, I haven’t had a negative reaction. In terms of getting rid of the blackheads, I’m closely monitoring any new appearance or removals of blackheads and will be sure to update you as soon as I have something to report on.
I’ve also distributed a few of these to teens that are suffering with spots and dull skin – and will defo compile another post documenting their results and thoughts on this product.

In the mean time, if you’re eager to try out this product, I highly recommend you do. Firstly, because I’ve used it and didn’t breakout so it’s safe to use. Secondly, you can get a 15ml tube for just R6.99 – yeah guys, just R6.99 so it ain’t going to break the bank. And if you’re totally convinced and slightly obsessed with this product after reading this, you can get the 50ml which retails for R32.99 or get the 100ml for just R49.99.

If you decide that you’d rather spend your R6.99 on this product than on a chocolate flavored Super M – then I’ve got even better news for you! POND’S is currently running a comp where you stand a chance of seeing your selfie on a billboard. All you’ve got to do is:
Use POND’S complete solution spot clear even tone facial foam.
Take a selfie.
Share your picture on Twitter/IG/POND’S Facebook Page with #PONDSNOFILTER OR
Upload it to http://www.PONDSselfie.co.za

And it’s as simple as that!

All the best with your skin and the competition! Here’s to being more selfie confident 💁

Gettin’ lippy with it

It wasn’t too long ago when the Strawberry scented Labello was the only lip product I owned. But recently, I’ve been more and more obsessed with lip products, so I thought I’d share 3 of my favorites with you.

Blistex Simple and Sensitive Lip Balm
I recently had somewhat of an allergic reaction to the ingredients in both the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Plumping Gloss and one of the Smashbox lip glosses – in general, my lips don’t play well with glosses. Anyway, I tried everything from Maybelline’s BabyLips to Vaseline even Zambuk and plain ol’ olive oil to try and get my lips back to normal but nothing worked. My lips were extremely dry and itchy and the upper one had turned a dark brown -which I’m assuming is an indication that the gloss burnt my lips – and was just horrible and annoying to look at.
Finally, I came across this beauty from Blistex and I kid you not, the next morning my lips were back to their usual self – plumpy and hydrated and no longer brown! IMG_1194
Initially, I was a bit hesitant to pay 40bucks for a balm that looked like it travelled all the way from the 90’s due to it’s rather crappy and lame packaging, however I’m glad that I did purchase it!
Apart from it’s aforementioned lack in visual appeal, it works superbly and always, ALWAYS, makes my lips feel great! I use it every night before bed and throughout the day. I also use it as a lip base for every lip product that I use. I find that since the Blistex balm is quite moisturizing, when used with another lip product, it gives my lips a very hydrated and healthy look and stops coloured lip products from drying out my lips and settling within my lip lines.
This is one product that I don’t think I can live without. And yeah, I’m even willing to pay another 40bucks for it if it means that my lips won’t have another incident!

Revlon’s ColourBurst Matte Balm in Unapologetic
I love chubby crayon-like lip products. I find it much easier to slick on than a lipstick and I find that they are quite pigmented too.
This particular one, is very hydrating, brightly coloured, smells minty and long-lasting too.

IMG_1186 I wouldn’t willingly purchase such a bright colour, however I received this at one of the Cosmo 2014 events and have loved it ever since. This is my go-to lip colour if I’m planning to have some fun in the sun or a quick trip to the local mall. I usually apply my Blistex Simple and Sensitive Balm as a lip base and then follow up with this chubby and blend into my lips. This particular shade will work well on fair, medium, olive and darker skin tones, so it’s a definite must-have.IMG_1198-1

Catrice’s Long Lasting Lip Pencil in Red Lip District 050
So, this is the first lip pencil that I’ve ever purchased/used. I’m not sure why, but I’ve never been interested in lip pencils. Perhaps, I thought that it was only for lining lips and wasn’t willing to invest that much of time in my lips where I’d have to line them and fill them in too.IMG_1191
Anyway, this one was quite an impulse buy. I think I paid about R13 for this one during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales on Kalahari  (you can find the lip liner here and even get it for free with the current promotion on Kalahari) and was excited to see what it was like. I wasn’t expecting much and thought it’d be average but it actually surprised me. It is quite bright and red and much, much more moisturizing than I thought a lip liner would be ( I compared this to an Essence one that I bought at the same time, and the Essence one really dried out my lips). IMG_1204-1

I’m not a fan of red lips, so I blended this one into my Blistex coated lips and created a subtle watermelon-red shade which I love. I usually wear the lip liner + Blistex duo when shopping or on a night out in which I amp up the pigment from watermelon red to water ice-cream red. The normal selling price is about R30 and is such a steal! I’m sure it isn’t as wonderful as a MAC or a Bobbi Brown liner but really does produce amazing results at a fraction of the cost and is perfect for those beauties on a budget!

Let’s hope that this year, my love for and collection of lip products grows extensively!
