Tokyo {OOTD}

Black and white is one of my fav colour combos. I love that I can pair it with any other solid colour and it will just work perfectly.

For this look, I paired a straight, banded maxi skirt with what looks like a tee but is actually a crop top. The crop top is a size 42 (I kid you not) which is what allows it to look like a tee on me. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with buying an item in a size that’s much, much bigger than your own – as long as you style it in such a way that it looks like it was made for you.

For my shoes, I opted for my trusty black Converse Chuck Taylor’s. I love pairing sneakers with maxi skirts/dresses, I think it’s really fun and unexpected and adds an element of sporty chic to your look.

My scarf is a wonderful shade of oxblood and is definitely one of the softest scarves I own. It drapes perfectly as you can see and sits quite well on my little noggin. I just pinned it under my chin, and created the midfold by bringing forward and pinning down some of the fabric and then I criss-crossed the scarf and threw it over my shoulders.
The extra volume in my scarf is all thanks to the volumizing scrunchie from Damasq (you can read more about it here). To me, I feel that the back of my head looks a little too big, but I think it’s to due to extra fabric of the scarf that hasn’t been pinned down – you know, maxi scarves!

And finally, I decided to skip all accessories for this OOTD, mostly because I’m just lazy and partially because I didn’t think it needed anything more!

Simple Fridays {OOTD}

So like 2015 is just less than an hour away and I thought I’d do a quick OOTD post while I’m here and waiting for the new year to arrive.

These images were actually captured a while ago but being the lazy me that I am, I never uploaded them. This is just my basic Friday look – I don’t wear abayas/cloaks, so maxi skirts are my go to for a Friday.

I paired this tailor-made dotted skirt with a plain slouchy tee and a printed scarf. My bracelet features a quirky pair of handcuffs, the statement necklace is hidden under my scarf (OOPS!) and my shoes is a pair of gold D’Orsay pumps. The bag is an oversized tote which is quite versatile – perfect for the beach, shopping or even as a laptop bag. And the sunnies is a pair from Birlin Eyewear which you guys have seen before!

Just a simple OOTD post for normal days😄

Kaleidoscopic {OOTD}

I recently went away for a few nights, with my family, just to chill out and relax. And since I hadn’t compiled an OOTD post in ages, I thought that I’d use my time away, to go outside and snap up some pics for the post.

This is one of my very chilled looks – no jewellery, light makeup and a loosely tied hijab – and I kind off like it. I was planning on unbuttoning the dress and wearing a pair of jeans and a tee under the dress but I decided not to.

I eventually opted for a cool sun hat and an opaque,super comfy and lightweight pair of leggings from Legwear Safari which I wear under all my maxi dresses and skirts – it really feels like you aren’t wearing anything! And I finished off my look with a wrinkled scarf and mellow yellow scalloped flats!

My scarcity + blog revamp

So, I’ve been a total slacker in regard to blogging this week. But I promise there is a valid reason..

I am revamping/making over my blog 😄

After much deliberation and going back and forth, I decided that it’s time to reinvent GITGH. So you can expect a new look and my very own unique domain name, so bye bye and hello!!

And it’s most likely that I will be changing the name of my blog too. It was a scary thought at first, but I realized that as I grow, my blog needs to grow with me. The concept and content of my blog will remain the same, I just think it’s time for a new name.

GITGH is a mouthful and it doesn’t really speak to what my blog is about – I’m not sure if my blog’s new name will, but it will definitely be much shorter and simpler!

I’m currently working on all the nitty gritty of the revamp, so hopefully the new and improved GITGH (or not GITGH) will be up and running at the beginning of December.
And no worries, you guys will automatically be redirected to the new site, so you won’t miss a thing!

Also, with the new year creeping in, you can expect at least two OOTD posts a month and even some recipe posts and more DIY’s. I know that I’ve been promising this for ages but I’ve just been so tied up with campus and studying that I couldn’t deliver – but that’s no longer an excuse. So you can defo expect some diversity in my blog posts in 2015!

Here’s to some exciting times ahead,

Versatility {OOTD}

Hello and Salaams to all my lovely readers!

So it wasn’t my plan to do an OOTD post at the start of Ramadaan but it sort off just happened, so I hope you enjoy this one!

For this OOTD post, I wanted to feature items that are versatile and basic and that can be dressed up or down – basically, items that will go with any and everything in your wardrobe!

So the maxi cardi was sent to me by the lovely Aadilah Tootla (you can find her on Instagram here), an amazing designer and blogger too! The cardi is one of the latest design additions to her label, Zaynah Mod Wear (you can find them on Instagram here) and is available in pink and brown and in sizes XS-XXL.

What I like about it, is the fact that it’s easy to wear. It can be thrown over an abaya or dress or worn with a pair of jeans or leggings – there is no hard and fast rule, anything goes! It will make a great addition to your wardrobe, especially for Ramadaan!

To maintain my modesty whilst still remaining trendy, I opted for a t-shirt dress rather than just a plain basic tee. The t-shirt dress provided a loose fit all round, unlike that of a basic tee.
And well a maxi skirt and a pair of D’orsay pumps are always a great choice!
The darker shade of the pumps, the tee and the skirt anchored the look and kept everything in balance.

For my accessories, I went really basic with just a statement necklace, a quilted messenger bag and 2 skinny bangles. These added just enough of the extra oomph needed to complete look!

All of the items featured can be worn alone or with others, and are a definite must-haves!
